Makhana Processing

  • Cultivation

    The cultivation process begins in a pond where foxnuts (Euryale ferox) are repeatedly grown.

  • Harvesting

    Trained individuals dive into the pond to collect the seeds. A portion of the seeds is left in the pond to ensure future germination.

  • Separation & Extraction

    The green outer covering of the seeds is removed through peeling, enhancing product quality and preparing them for subsequent steps.

  • Cleaning & Washing

    The seeds are cleaned to remove any impurities, followed by thorough washing.

  • Sun Drying

    Seeds are sun dried to reduce moisture, enhancing shelf life.

  • Grading

    The cleaned seeds are carefully sorted by size and quality to ensure uniformity.

  • Roasting

    The makhana seeds are roasted in a pan during which they pop up and become light and crunchy.

  • Handpicking

    The seeds are hand-selected to ensure only the highest quality seeds make it to the final product
